The majority of the first season of the Netflix Spanish series “Welcome to Eden” or “Bienvenidos an Edén,” created by Joaqun Górriz and Guillermo López, is a classic cult thriller. But while it still maintains its thriller credentials, some developments at the end of season 1 abruptly change it into a blend of science fiction and fantasy. The plot centres on a group of aimless adolescents who find themselves on a paradisiacal island and are persuaded to stay by their endearing and enigmatic hosts. But, they quickly come to the realisation that they have unintentionally joined a lethal cult that will execute them if they attempt to flee.
Season 2 of “Welcome to Eden” is primarily on the cult and its evil acts, despite the show’s claims to be science fiction and fantasy. Several new people are introduced as the story progresses, yet despite the plethora of violence and intrigue, it stays realistic. This is all the information you might need on the conclusion of “Welcome to Eden” season 2. Spoilers follow.
Welcome to Eden Season 2 Recap
From where the first season left off, the second one starts. In the midst of the new arrivals, Zoa (Amaia Aberasturi), who is about to board the boat and permanently leave the island, sees her younger sister Gaby (Berta Castaé). As those who have seen the first season already know, after her sister vanished, Gaby launched her own investigation and found that she was on Eden Island. She has now come in search of her. Zoa is unaware of any of this, yet she cannot abandon her sister in the presence of a group of murderers. Nico, who is aware of the growing closeness between Zoa and Bel (Begoa Vargas), captures her when she returns to Eden despite still having feelings for the latter. He doesn’t understand that Zoa couldn’t have loved him even if Bel hadn’t entered her life due of his unwavering devotion to Astrid (Amaia Salamanca) and the foundation.
Although Charly (Tomás Aguilera) is able to escape the island, he soon discovers himself swimming in a deserted area with no sign of shore. He is taken away by armed individuals whom he mistakenly thinks are members of the coast guard, the military, or law enforcement. He is shown to be mistaken when these individuals return to the island and, at Astrid’s request, place him in the same cell as Africa (Belinda Peregrn).
Others, however, are unaware of this and continue to hold out hope that Charly has arrived in mainland Spain and informed the authorities. Nico makes a significant finding. He learns that Sal, the island’s chief of the medical division, was responsible for the assault on Astrid and Erick. He honoured his predecessor, Graciela, his mentor, by using the sign of Lilith. As Sal enters, there is a fight that results in Nico’s death.

Astrid orders Eloy’s execution since she thinks he is Ulises’ killer, but he escapes and later runs into Isaac. Alma discovers that Ibón (Diego Garisa) was responsible for Ulises’ death. The night he dumps her, Alma kills her ex-boyfriend after learning about the sexual component of the relationship between Ibón, Eloy, and Orson. Ibón killed Ulises, so Alma’s actions reintegrate her into the foundation’s inner circle just as she becomes Astrid’s fervent follower.
In exchange for Charly serving as the link for Som, one of the two newcomers chosen to remain on the island together with Molly, the carefully crafted alias that Gaby developed for herself, Maika (Lola Rodriguez) persuades Astrid and Erick not to kill Charly.
To her sister’s dismay, the more Gaby stays on the island, the more she is brainwashed. Ibón’s father, who is on the mainland, requests Brisa to halt her investigation because he is sorry for abusing his son and wants to give him the time and space he needs to recover. In spite of this, Brisa keeps searching for the missing teenagers and protects their loved ones from foundation-planned attacks.
In the season 2 finale, Bel and Zoa strike a bargain with Africa over Astrid’s passing, but things go horribly wrong when Astrid learns of it. To sneak onto the island, Brisa enlists the aid of her old acquaintances. Astrid kills Nuria after strong opponents of the foundation make their presence known, but not before Isaac learns that the woman who practically raised him is actually his biological mother.
Welcome to Eden Season 2 Ending: Who Are Som and Danae?
The history of the cult and other riddles in the show are explained in a flashback segment in season 2 episode 5. Astrid established the cult with the help of her husband’s wealth and the teachings of her father as a basis. The flashback scene, which is set in 2014, also reveals that Mr. Sisuk, her father’s greatest foe, sent assassins to kill Astrid’s father. Astrid orchestrates the entrance of Sisuk’s daughter, Som, to the island in the present in an effort to exact retribution. Since the beginning, Erick has been adamantly opposed to this because he thinks Som is innocent and is not involved in the conflict.

Som isn’t the only person on the island; her father probably gave her the order to go there. In 2014, Danae was responsible for the death of Astrid’s father. Since then, she has gotten inside the foundation. She stopped Astrid’s father from contacting her that day with his findings. Using a chip inserted under Som’s skin today, they smuggle the data into the island. In the climax, Danae removes the chip and, while the cultists are occupied trying to kill Zoa and Bel, gains access to the supercomputer to, presumably, find New Eden.
What is New Eden?
The Eden Foundation has a mythology behind it, just like every other cult. They wish to leave Earth behind because they think it is dying as a result of human activity. Without a hint of sarcasm, Astrid proclaims to her followers that the society they have built is an upgraded and better version of the one that came before it—a new Noah’s Ark. They have been attempting to speak with entities for years, most likely aliens. And now that they have reacted for the first time, the said entities.
Astrid, taking her cue from her father, refers to the planet these aliens call home as New Eden. Isaac is meant to be the guide on the expedition because he appears to have some particular powers. Of course, she lied about a lot of what she claimed. If there are aliens at all, they haven’t communicated. Her father’s research is not in her possession. She speaks to the rest of the group in a desperate manner. Even Erick is beginning to have reservations about Astrid now that she is losing control of her cult.
Who Tells Astrid about Zoa and Bel’s Plans?
In collaboration with Nuria, Zoa and Bel come up with the idea to blow up Astrid. They even persuade Africa to assist them obediently as long as they don’t hurt Erick. But shortly after Astrid arrives at the module in the centre of the crater, Bel and Zoa notice Isaac getting there. Bel stops Zoa from carrying out the plan even though she still has the desire to do so since she is aware that her beloved will not be able to forgive her if she murders Isaac. They understand that Astrid shouldn’t be there unless she was informed of their plans beforehand.
The two other girls who were aware of the plot, Africa and Eva, are initially suspected by Bel and Zoa. In actuality, Gabi was the one who revealed everything to Astrid. She and Zoa were raised in an unhappy home by their drug-addicted mother and missing father. Gabi believes Astrid to be the ideal mother after meeting and getting to know her, not recognising that she is admiring a performance who is particularly skilled at what she does.

Astrid, for her part, is aware of this, which is why she refrains from acting harshly towards the younger woman even after learning that she and Zoa are related. Gabi begs for Zoa and Bel’s lives in the season finale as they are about to be put to death, still naively believing that Astrid is inherently good. Yet, Zoa and Bel are aware of the reality and do not submit to the monster of a lady in what will probably be their final moments. Ultimately, the execution is put off until Brisa and her group arrive.
Is África Pregnant?
Around the end of the second season of “Welcome to Eden,” Africa is indeed expecting a child. Season 2 of her relationship with Erick sees it grow, which worries Astrid. She notices that both of them had previously been involved with other people, but she senses that this time is different. Erick leaves their home and moves in with Africa as he starts to wonder about Astrid’s conduct. But when he learns that Astrid was the target of another attempt on her life, he returns to his original decision and departs from Africa.
Astrid is unable to have her own children. Nuria believes there’s a chance Erick got close to her so he and Astrid could have a kid together because he knew she wouldn’t complain much. The reactions of Astrid and Erick to the news of Africa’s pregnancy will be interesting to watch. After all, unlike Nuria, Africa will not willingly give up her child.
